Happy clients
“I invited Hannah to host a working within my monthly manifestation membership, The Collective, because as soon as I discovered Journal for Joy and Hannah's entire energy, I knew she would be the perfect high vibe fit.
From start to finish the workshop was inspiring, thought provoking and incredibly joyful. We focused on finding joy in our hometown and myself and the members loved the different styles of journaling such as list making and drawing.
I couldn't recommend Hannah enough as a teacher and facilitator and can't wait to invite her back into the membership again at a later date!!”
— Victoria Jackson, The Manifestation Collective
How the workshops work
My sessions are usually 1.5 or 2 hours long, though can also be adapted to 1 hour if that suits you better. Each workshop typically includes:
A short introductory talk from me about joyful journaling and its wellbeing benefits to set the context
A mix of journaling prompts and techniques guided by me, including writing, drawing, mindfulness and reflection exercises (usually 5-7 different activities)
The option to share and discuss your journal entries with the group, to spread the joy and find moments of connection with each other.
You can choose from my core workshop themes below, or let me know if you’ve got something else in mind and I’d be delighted to create something bespoke.
All workshops can be booked as a one-off session or, if you want to work together longer term, you can book a series of workshops to form a course i.e. 1 per week for 4 weeks.
Upcoming events
If you’d like to join me for a joyful journaling workshop but don’t want to book a private session, take a look at my Membership or the open sessions I’ve got coming up.
Workshop FAQs

Costs vary depending on whether your session is virtual or in-person (and whereabouts you are!), how many people are attending and so on. Please contact me with details about your workplace, event, group size and the dates you have in mind and I’ll provide you with a custom quote: hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk

I’ve hosted workshops for groups as small as 5 people and as large as 60! I’ve found that the optimum number of people is between 8 and 14 to allow time for sharing and discussion between journaling – but if you have more or less people it may still work. Contact me on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk to discuss your estimated group size and I’ll let you know how it would work.

I’ve run workshops in all sorts of places, indoors and outdoors, from yoga studios and offices to gardens and beaches! The suitability of the location really depends on the nature of the group but ideally the space should be fairly quiet, dry and offer somewhere to sit and journal comfortably.
-
Yes, absolutely! I often host sessions on Zoom and participants usually find them just as valuable, fun and engaging as those that have attended in-person workshops.
-
Each participant just needs to bring their own notebook/journal and pens/pencils. I always bring spare paper and a bunch of colourful pens and pencils too, just in case.
-
Nope! My workshops are suitable for complete beginners. Although if you have dabbled in journaling, or even if you’ve been journaling for a long time, I’m sure that you’ll take something new away from the sessions. All experience levels are welcome.

I’m always open to discussing this, so please still get in touch and we can chat through options!

No. My background is in writing. I am Mental Health First Aid trained but if you’d like me to host a workshop with a group with specific mental health challenges or needs, a member of your team or a caregiver will need to be present.

They’re not currently designed for children – but I have had teens come to my previous workshops (with a parent) and they’ve really enjoyed them! It’s at the parents’ discretion, of course, but I’d say 14 years old is the youngest suitable age right now. I’d really like to be able to offer Journal For Joy workshops for children in the future, so if you’re a teacher or anyone else who would be interested in discussing this, please get in touch with me on hannah@journalforjoy.co.uk.

This is something that I hear a lot… but the truth is, we’re all creative! Sometimes we don’t feel that way because we don’t make time for it, or we’ve been told that we’re not creative in the past and it’s a belief that’s stuck with us. My workshops are designed so that you can take part and practice playful creativity, even if you have no prior experience of creative writing or drawing. You might even surprise yourself (people often do) 🙂
